I'm a lifelong western chess player and I just learned to play shogi today. Western chess is overwhelmingly deep and complicated enough as it is without the added element that pieces can return to the board. That's my problem with Shogi. You can put a captured piece back on the board at any time in any place. This keeps the board cluttered throughout the game and makes it even more difficult to see ahead. But I only played once so I don't want to be too judgemental yet.

its as easy as western chess, if you can identify the pieces, its deeper than western chess, thats what it makes so good

Meh, with the exception of international chess, not much people would know the asian board games (shogi, chinese chess, and go for example). As for rules, playing online would help.
